king charels-history story.

i am the king. not because i want to be but because i was chosen by god to be.ciquenith the death of my older brother and my father god has chosen to make me king. i answer to no one except god.and as king chosen by god i am able to do whatever i want. without consequence.

“i charge to king with high treason against the realm of england.”
declared oliver cromwell the man who had been fighting against the king. “king charles what say you in your defence?”
the male judge in a black a black robe asked while staring at the king with cold eyes. the courtroom had walls made out of old and chipped white stones and the table and chairs that the people sat at were made of a light oak wood. the jury sitting behind the king were silent in fact the entire courtroom was silent except for the howling of wind that came in through the old windows nearing the top of the walls. the king lifts his eyes and stares straight into the judges eyes, a smile grew on his face as he stated “i am a king chosen by god himself! what have i to be afraid of? when i die my soul will be cast on to a throne in heaven while your soul shall be sent to hell to burn for what it has done.”
“ Is that to say, my king, that you do not feel it necessary to say a plea for your life?”
the judge asked. I repeat”
said the king slouching back in his chair “what do i have to fear of death?”
“very well, my king, because you feel it not necessary to make a plea for your life i declare that the king, for the crimes contained in the charge should be carried back to the place from whence he came, and thence to the place of execution, where his head should be severed from his body.”
the judge announced banging his hammer on the oak table. the parliamentary forces under command of oliver cromwell, escorted the king back to the palace where he had spent his last two days. on the third day the king was lead to the scaffold erected at whitehall, london. it was a bitterly cold day and when the king arrived he was wearing two heavy shirts so that he would not shiver in the cold and appear to be afraid. the king turned to the crowd and began to speak, “truly i desire their liberty and freedom as much as anybody whomsoever  but i must tell you that their liberty and freedom consists in having of government, those laws, by which their life and their goods may be most their own. it is not for having shared in government , sirs that is nothing determined them a subject and a sovereign are clear different things and therefor until they do that , i mean that. you do put the people in that liberty, as i say, certainly they will never enjoy themselves sirs, it was for this that i have come here. if i would have given way to an arbitrary way, for to have all laws changed accordingly to the power of the sword i needed not to have come here, and therefore i tell you that i am the martyr of the people.” the king then turned to the executioner and said “i shall say but very short prayers and when i extend my hands you can end it.” he then called to the bishop for his hat, and as he put it on he asked the executioner who wanted him to put all his hair under his cap “ does my hair offend you?” he turned to the bishop and said “i have a good cause and a gracious god on my side.” “there is but one stage more. which, though turbulent and troublesome, yet is a very short way, it will carry you from earth to heaven and there you shall find your great joy, the prize you hasten to, a crown of glory.” the bishop proclaimed. the king responds “ i go from a corruptible to an incorruptible crown were no disturbance can be, no disturbance in the world.” the bishop shows a cold smile “ you are exchanged from a temporal to an eternal crown. a good exchange.” the king turns back to the executioner “is my  hair well?” he asks as he takes off his cloak and jeweled pendant, he delivers the pendant to the bishop and put the cloak back on again. looking upon the block he says to the executioner “ you must swing fast.” “ it is fast sir.” the executioner replies “ the block might have to be a little hier .” said the king. “it can be no higher sir.” the executioner says while shaking his head “ when i stretch out my hands like this kill me.” said the king he then said a few words to himself as he stood with eyes and hands lifted  up. he then knelt and laid his neck upon the block. the executioner tucked the kings stray hairs under his hat again. his majesty thinking he was going to strike, begged him. “stay for the sing.” the executioner looked down at him with understanding eyes “yes i will wait” after a very short pause, the king stretched out his hands, th executioner raises the sword high into the air, then swings the sword and severs the kings head from his body in one blow. ending his life.

i am the king, not because i want to be but because i was chosen by god to be, i answer to no one except god and as king chosen by god i am able to do anything i want without consequence.
